5 Features We Actually Need in The New AutoCAD 2024

AutoCAD 2024 is set to launch this month and we’re thrilled to hear your thoughts on any new feature you’d like to see in this latest version. Our community has already come up with a couple of great ideas, including the ability to convert raster images to DWG files inside the AutoCAD program itself.

While we can use raster tools to bring on some of the individual line-work from a raster image, it would be fantastic if AutoCAD included a feature to quickly convert these images to DWG objects, similar to the PDF to DWG conversion tool introduced in AutoCAD 2017.

Our friend Jeff also had a great idea for a new feature – a command or tool that zooms to extends all tabs in the workspace. This feature would be especially useful for professionals who need to follow certain requirements or policies for closing their drawings. With a quick command to assume extends on all tabs, users can ensure their drawings are closed professionally without having to go through each tab manually.

Another improvement that many AutoCAD users have requested is for AutoCAD to provide more helpful error messages when trying to hatch areas. Currently, the error message is quite generic, and beginners in particular can find it challenging to determine the cause of the problem.

It would be a great help if AutoCAD could provide more detailed error messages to help users identify the specific problem with their geometries.

Finally, our friend Douglas suggested that AutoCAD 2024 come with preset text and architectural dimension styles, similar to the ones found in AutoCAD Architecture.

This feature would be a huge time-saver for architects, who often require specific presets for different designs, such as site plans, floor plans, and so on.

We’re always listening to our community’s feedback and suggestions, and we’re looking forward to seeing how AutoCAD 2024 can better meet the needs of our Lazy community. In the meantime, which new feature would you like to see in the new AutoCAD 2024?
