How to Create Ribbon Drop Down in AutoCAD Quickly

Have you ever experienced your entire Xref disappearing when trying to freeze a layer within an xref? It can be frustrating, and usually, you have to change settings in the freeze command. However, there’s a more efficient solution: accessing the Customized User Interface (CUI) and then duplicating your current workspace to avoid any potential problems later on.

Navigate to the Block panel within the Ribbon and find the dropdown feature similar to the Layers dropdown. Right-click and duplicate this dropdown feature to create a “Freeze” command. Place the “Freeze” command strategically within your workspace for easy access and create a couple of copies. Customize the macro codes for different freezing options: regular freeze, freeze block, and freeze block layer. Here are the macro codes for each option:

Regular Freeze: ^C^C_LAYFRZ;S;B;N;

Freeze Block: ^C^C_LAYFRZ;S;B;B;

Freeze Block Layer: ^C^C_LAYFRZ;S;B;E;
